Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway revealed today that she ‘felt bad’ for enjoying herself while presenting on the ITV show while her husband remained ill in hospital.
The 53-year-old ITV presenter’s husband Derek Draper, 52, is currently still in hospital recovering after being critically ill with coronavirus.
Today Kate said she didn’t want to keep giving updates about her husband as she didn’t want to upset those who know somebody battling the deadly virus.
She added that she “felt bad” for having laughs on the show, because she remembered her poorly husband was still recovering from Covid-19.

Kate explained: “I feel conscious of not… I know everyone has been so lovely and concerned for him, and it’s difficult isn’t it.”
She added: “There’s so many people out there with people who are sick, that you don’t want to talk about it on Good Morning Britain all of the time.
“It’s then not cheering up everybody that’s trying to cope with Covid.

“But then on the other hand last week when were were having fun and games, you feel almost bad cos you think, ‘I’m laughing and he’s still there in a minimally conscious state,’ it’s a difficult balance.”
Kate was hosting Monday’s show alongside Adil Ray, who has stepped in while Ben Shephard takes a break of the ITV programme to film Tipping Point.
Adil took to Instagram over the weekend to shared a heartfelt throwback snap alongside Kate.

He said he wanted to give Kate a hug when he sees her in the studio, and asked for suggestions on how he can do that while following social distancing guidelines.
Alongside his snap, the comedian wrote: “So. Insta. I need your help. I have a predicament.
“I’m working with @kategarraway on Monday, hosting GMB. No, that’s not the predicament.
“All I’m going to want to do is give her a big Bloomin’ hug because she’s so Bloomin’ lovely! How the heck do I do that???! Suggestions please. See you Monday to Wednesday 6-9am.”
In response, Kate wrote: “Well saved @adilray – think hugs are out but we can recreate a socially distanced version of this slightly demented selfie – will that do you!?!
“Looking forward to seeing you and everyone on @gmb tomorrow. All the news you need – and there’s a lot of it right now- and some smiles because we all need that too right now don’t we …”
