Jeremy Clarkson rages at 'irritating' Who Wants to Be a Millionaire audience

Jeremy Clarkson branded the answers provided by the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire audience as “irritating” during tonight’s episode.

The 60-year-old presenter was joined by optometrist Helen in the studio, as she managed to make it to £64,000 without a hitch.

Impressed by her performance, Jeremy confessed he was “of a tingle all of a sudden,” anticipating a big win.

He added: “Now here we are really heading up the board!”

Unfortunately, a question about sugary treats threw a spanner in the works, as Helen was forced to turn to her “ask the audience” lifeline.

The question read: “The city of Lubeck is renowned for main which product that was awarded EU protected states in 1996.”

Four options were listed below – nougat, butterscotch, marzipan and praline.

However, the audience hadn’t a clue which answer was correct, as all four options were selected in near-equal percentages by the crowd.

Fuming over their answer, Jeremy huffed and snapped: “Oh for heaven’s sake. That’s really irritating.”

Helen then tried to use her “ask the host” lifeline, but Jezza confessed he hadn’t a clue which answer was correct.

Going for the safe option, Helen decided to leave with her £64,000 cheque, bidding Jeremy farewell.

However, just before she left the stage, Jeremy asked which answer she felt was the right one.

When Helen confirmed she suspected it could be marzipan, Jeremy revealed it was the right answer – meaning she narrowly missed out on a £125,000 payout.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on ITV.
