CeeLo Green has issued an apology to Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj after taking a swipe at their X-rated music videos and calling them “desperate”.
The 45-year-old singer slammed the trio of rappers for the raunchy music video for new single WAP, and has since said sorry after sparking backlash.
In a recent interview with Far Out magazine, he insisted there should be “a time and a place for adult content” in music videos, while branding their new single “shameless”.
The Forget You hitmaker questioned whether the ladies should be seen as role models in view of the “shameless” content of their songs.
CeeLo received backlash from the rappers’ loyal fans after his remarks, and the Crazy singer has since taken to Instagram to issue an apology.

On Wednesday, CeeLo said sorry to the empowered women and attempted to make amends, insisting it was a “misunderstanding”.
He claimed that he was a huge fan of Cardi, Megan and Nicki, and didn’t mean to cause controversy.
CeeLo shared the lengthy post with his 489k followers on Instagram.
He wrote: “Firstly, I’m an advocate of artistic freedom and expression as well as a fan of Nicki, Cards and Megan. I know most of them personally and consider Cardi and Offset family.

“Therefore I would never disrespect them by any means. I acknowledge them as all powerful, beautiful and influential women… and professionals.”
During the controversial interview, CeeLo discussed sexual expression, saying: “It’s problematic, we suffer from it because there are those that have nothing to do with it, but it is assumed of everyone.
“You have the ‘Heads of State,’ like Nicki Minaj or someone who is up there in accolade: success, visibility, a platform to influence. Nicki could be effective in so many other constructive ways, but it feels desperate.

“Attention is also a drug and competition is around…Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, they are all more or less doing similar salacious gesturing to kinda get into position.
“I get it, the independent woman and being in control, the divine femininity and sexual expression. I get it all, [but] it comes at what cost?”
