Apple Music launch two new radio stations with major music shake-up

Apple Music have announced the expansion of their succession live radio platform by adding two new stations into the mix.

The tech giant has confirmed the launch of Apple Music Hits and Apple Music Country.

Both channels are set to offer exclusive original shows from some of the biggest artists on the planet.

Apple Music hits is set to play the biggest hits from across the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.

Meanwhile, as the name suggests, Apple Music Country will focus on country tracks.

Apple have also branded their successful Beats 1 flagship radio station as Apple Music 1.

Beats 1 was first launched in 2015 with former Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe taking the helm.

Speaking about the shake-up, vice president of Apple Music Oliver Schusser said: “For the past five years, if ever there was a meaningful moment in music culture, Beats 1 was there bringing human curation to the forefront and drawing in listeners with exclusive shows from some of the most innovative, respected, and beloved people in music.

“Now, Apple Music Radio provides an unparalleled global platform for artists across all genres to talk about, create, and share music with their fans, and this is just the beginning.

“We will continue to invest in live radio and create opportunities for listeners around the world to connect with the music they love.”

Earlier this month pop icon Lady Gaga launched her own show on Apple Music.

Opening up about Gaga radio, Mother Monster said: “The last few weeks I’ve been figuring out different ways at home that I can be of service to what I would call the singular global community.

“One that I believe to be kind in nature, one that I believe to be very special to my heart and I believe to the hearts of many. And so I’ve been thinking of all the ways that I can be someone that contributes to the society and the world.

“I’m super thrilled, excited to have this show and this opportunity to play an incredible mix of music every week.”
