Good Morning Britain ‘s Dr Hilary has branded the new airport coronavirus testing as not ‘the game changer it’s being sold as’.
The show’s resident medical expert, 67, was discussing a new coronavirus testing centre at Heathrow Airport which could allow passengers arriving in the UK to skip having to quarantine.
The doctor began by discussing how everyone is seemingly excited about being able to go on holiday and the possibility of reducing the quarantine on returning due to the airport testing.
He warned viewers that the tests themselves cost £150, and if you’re asymptomatic, you’d need a second test, making your total cost £300.

The doctor also revealed that the process would only save passengers 4 days from quarantine, so it might not be worth it.
Dr Hilary said: “If people don’t want to self isolate for 14 days when they come back from countries now like Croatia or the US, they can book online a test which will cost them £150.
“Now that test is done, but of course some people are asymptomatic, they may have a false negative test.

“So a second test, five to eight days later is being suggested.”
He continued: “Now if you have a second test, the cost of another £150…five to eight days later, your test will take probably two days to process so it could only save you four days from your self isolation in quarantine.”
“So I don’t want to put a damper on this but I think we do need to be realistic.”
He added: “You’re only going to save yourself four days of that quarantine so it’s not the game changer that I think it’s being sold as and I think people need to remember that.”
