Corrie's Sally Ann Matthews and Simon Gregson's wife clash over £30 fan videos

Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews has clashed with her co-star Simon Gregson’s wife over charging fans for personalised video messages.

The 49-year-old previously made it clear she isn’t a fan of charging viewers for autographs and custom videos.

However Simon, who plays Steve McDonald, sells personalised messages for £30 and his wife had something to say to Sally.

His wife Emma Gleave responded to Sally on Twitter accusing her of not supporting her co-stars who are using services such as Cameo to charge money for the videos.

Emma tweeted Sally saying: “Wow! Nothing like sticking together with your work colleagues!”

According to The Sun, she also tweeted and deleted: “Grow a set of balls and tell your cast members your opinion.”

Sally, who plays Jenny Connor, originally told fans just to write to the cast for an autograph, but made her thoughts clear on paid for video messages too.

She told a fan: “Write to us at Trafford Wharf Road. We do them for free! You should never pay for an autograph (or a video message come to that).”

Another fan responded: “Exactly how it should be. Making cash from birthday messages is another issue for me. Don’t get me started!”

And Sally responded: “Oh I hear you.”

It isn’t just Simon who takes advantage of the online services connecting fans with their favourite stars, though.

William Roache who plays Ken Barlow, Chris Gascoyne who plays Peter Barlow, Lisa George who plays Beth Sutherland, Daniel Brocklebank who plays Billy Mayhew, and Rula Lenska who plays Claudia Colby are all available to book on CelebVM.

Meanwhile, Antony Cotton who plays Sean Tully and former cast member Ryan Clayton, who played David’s rapist Josh Tucker, use Cameo.

However Simon’s wife Emma said that charities benefit from the money that he makes for fans.

Fans can expect to pay hundreds of pounds, if not much more, for a personalised video message from their favourite celebrity on Cameo.

Caitlyn Jenner charges £2,075 for a message on Cameo, Lindsay Lohan’s fee is set at £249, while Akeem Griffiths from the final season of Big Brother UK charges less than £10.

For some people though, these video messages can get them into some trouble, as Tiger King’s Carole Baskin, who charges £250, produced a video for pranksters asking for a shout out to Rolf Harris and Jimmy Saville.
