Piers Morgan brands Bette Midler 'racist' for Melania jibe after Meghan feud

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has reignited his feud with Hollywood star Bette Midler by calling her “racist” for comments about US President’s Donald Trump’s wife Melania.

This comes after the pair also had a separate spat over Meghan Markle over the weekend after Piers called for the Queen to strip her and Prince Harry of their royal titles.

His comments sparked Bette telling him to “f*** off”, to which he responded: “Be kind.”

But in typical Piers fashion, the TV star can’t let the feud die as he branded Bette “racist” for saying Melania Trump “still can’t speak English” last night.

Melania made a speech at the Republican National Convention in the gardens of the White House, calling for understanding and unity from her husband’s voters.

Clearly watching the speech, Bette tweeted: “Oh, God. She still can’t speak English.”

As Bette’s comments sparked backlash from her fans, Piers also jumped in as he quoted her and replied: “Oh, God. Bette Midler’s a racist.”

Bette is yet to respond to Piers’ comment.

Their spat came after Piers mocked Meghan’s When All Women Vote initiative video, which was aiming to boost female suffrage.

Meghan had added: “If you aren’t going out there and voting, then you’re complicit.”

Piers responded to the video by accusing Meghan of politicising her role, writing: “The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles.

“They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way.”

It was this comment from Piers that sparked the explicit response from Bette, who has won four Oscars, three Grammys, as well as a Tony.

She then went on to respond to a clip of Meghan’s tweet published by a newspaper website, writing: “Here they go again. Always guaranteed to sell papers; attacking the new girl.”

Bette is best known for her roles in The Rose, Beaches, and The Stepford Wives.

Meanwhile, Piers is set to return to Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid next week after ITV confirmed the news with an advert.
