Adele accused of cultural appropriation over bikini and Bantu knots snap

Adele has found herself at the centre of an online backlash after sporting a Jamaican bikini and Bantu knots.

The Someone Like You songstress has been accused of cultural appropriation for her outfit choice.

Adele, 32, donned the look after attending a Notting Hill Carnival party which would have taken place this Bank Holiday Weekend.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic the iconic street party in West London has been cancelled.

Posting the snap on her official Instagram page, Adele wrote: “Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London.”

She was quickly met with a flurry of angry responses.

“Adele dropped that weight and said it’s time for her cultural appropriation era,” one follower let rip.

Another vented: “Dear white people, please just be yourselves and stop it for good with cultural appropriation.

“Adele the bantu knots were unnecessary. The Jamaican flag bikini top was unnecessary… Please just stop it.”

A third hit out: “Black women are discriminated against for wearing cultural hairstyles like bantu knots and locs but white people are not, that’s not fair and that’s why people are p****d off.”

She is also understood to have fallen in love with reformer pilates and is thought to have been taking classes with Robbie Williams’ wife Ayda Fielding.

Adele’s long awaited fourth album was initially due to be released in September this year however, due to the ongoing pandemic plans are up in the air.
