Phillip Schofield takes swipe at Ant and Dec on This Morning over NTAs win

Phillip Schofield directed a sly remark at his guests Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on today’s show, as they reflected on their 30-year career.

Appearing on This Morning with Phil and Holly Willoughby, Ant and Dec promoted their new memoir, titled Once Upon a Tyne: Our Story Celebrating 30 Years Together On Telly.

The presenting duo are known to clean up at the annual NTA awards, scooping up the prize for the Best Presenter year after year.

Holly and Phil are often in the running for the category, but the cheeky Geordie lads always manage to beat them to the post.

Looking back at their career, Dec suggested they had many more years of dazzling showmanship ahead of them.

He said: “It’s gone in the blink of an eye.

“It feels like we’re just getting started.”

Bursting into laughter, Phil took a cheeky swipe, going: “That’s the NTAs stuffed again!”

Thankfully, Ant and Dec laughed it off, as the conversation turned to their page-turning new memoir, which goes on sale later this week.

The book, which includes never before seen pics from their career, is set to include the “backstage stories” and “daft stuff” the duo have experienced over the years.

As humble as ever, Ant mused: “We’re very lucky to be involved in three of the biggest shows in telly.

“Being together, working together is such a good laugh.”

Despite their star status, Dec added that they sometimes struggle with imposter syndrome, unable to believe their good fortune in becoming two of the biggest names in showbiz.

He said: “I don’t think you ever get to a point and go ‘oh I’ve made it’.

“It’s quite unbelievable that it should happen to us.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV
