Jameela Jamil has opened up about the cruel trolling she encountered following Caroline Flack ‘s untimely passing.
The Good Place star came to blows with Caroline over her Channel 4 cosmetic surgery show which Jameela compared to Netflix’s Black Mirror and said ‘preyed on people’s insecurities”.
Speaking on Katie Piper’s Extraordinary People podcast, the actress said she was in a ‘bad place’ as she was told to kill herself when the news surfaced surrounding Caroline’s death.
“People thought… I contributed to the death of Caroline Flack, which I had nothing to do with and I adored her,” she said.

“We just had one spat on Twitter for five minutes, a year ago.”
Talking about the ‘Be Kind’ movement which surfaced following Flack’s death, Jamil added: “I think kindness is always an important quality but I don’t think we’ve seen that post-Caroline.
“Post-Caroline, everyone piled on to me that same week, so hard. People were telling me to kill myself.
“I went to a bad place over the Caroline thing. It’s very hard to be gaslit on a global scale.”
She added: “February and March were really stressful and made me feel really unsafe for a minute but now it’s charged me to go even harder, so it backfired and now I feel more motivated than ever.

“The one thing I had never gone through was global scandal and a global smear campaign and now that I’ve been through that and survived it, now I’m like ‘alright, let’s f***ing have it’. So I feel good at the moment.”
Piers Morgan waded into the Caroline and Jameela debacle when he leaked private messages, claiming the TV host sent them to him.
Piers posted the screengrabs from a conversation with Caroline, captioning his Twitter post: “Jameela Jamil is having a lot to say about online harassment, so in the interests of balance, here is a message Caroline Flack sent me last October after the same Jameela Jamil led an online pile-on against her regarding a new TV show she was doing.”
The messages read: “Please have pictures…
“I’m struggling with Jameela..
“The hate she aims at me.”
Fans quickly slammed Piers, saying he had no right to post the private message.
“Regardless of whatever has gone on/been said…exposing Caroline Flack’s message to support an argument, (now she is not here) is just really inappropriate,” one wrote.
Caroline Flack was found dead in her north London flat on Saturday, February 15.
The former Love Island host and Strictly Come Dancing winner died by hanging at her flat in Clapton.
This came after the star was arrested for alleged assault against boyfriend Lewis Burton – with Caroline admitting she “whacked” Lewis, but didn’t mean to cause harm.
