Coronation Street canal death victim confirmed in gut-wrenching murder twist

Coronation Street fans are in for a shock next week, as the identity of the body dredged up in the river is revealed.

Recent scenes have seen Sean Tully and Billy Mayhew launch a search party in an effort to find Todd Grimshaw after his disappearance.

However, their hunt takes a sinister turn as Sean (Antony Cotton) discovers a body has been found in a river, fearing the worst.

Coronation Street spoilers have revealed the identity of the corpse will be revealed as none other than Kel Hinchley in upcoming scenes – the pedophile that took advantage of Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) in his early teens.

Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) and Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) turn up at the police station, desperate to find out whether the body in the canal was actually that of Kel.

When Paul finds out about Billy’s suspicions, he is distraught and storms out of the house.

Later, while Bernie Winter is delighted the man who abused her son has died, Paul has conflicted feelings.

Billy finds him drinking alone in the local park, and realises he is struggling to process the news of Kel’s death.

Billy reveals that a body was found in the canal and he suspects it might be that of Kel

When police officers confirm the body is Kel’s, they request to ask Paul a series of questions.

Paul says he isn’t surprised Kel was murdered – rousing officers’ suspicions, as they add they never said his death was foul play.

Billy starts to fear the worst and asks Paul why he thinks Kel has been murdered.

Paul reacts badly, growing angry and defensive in response to the intention behind Billy’s questions.

Later, Craig appears at the flower shop and confirms police aren’t looking for suspects in the case of Kel’s death, revealing the drowning was accidental.

When Billy appears relieved, Paul is hurt beyond belief, as he realises his boyfriend suspected him of murder.

Will Kel’s death tear Billy and Paul apart, or could it bring them closer together?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
