It was confirmed on Tuesday morning that actor Kevin Dobson had died at the age of 77 after suffering a heart attack.
The American star, who was famous for playing Patrick “Mack” MacKenzie on Knots Landing, among other roles – died on Sunday.
A flurry of tributes have poured in for the Kojak star on social media.
One social networker said: “You just know somewhere on Seaview Circle, Val is arriving at Karen’s with a casserole. Abby will bring something store bought. RIP, Kevin Dobson.”
Actress Sharon Gless remarked: “I am very sad. Kevin Dobson passed away yesterday. We worked together years ago and he was an amazing man. I wish I had been given time to say goodbye. Godspeed Kevin.”
John O’Hurley tweeted a tribute followed by a link to a story reporting his pal’s death. He wrote: “Rest In Peace my friend…”
As well as his acting career, Kevin also served some time in the US armed forces and was a chair person of The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County.
Breaking the news of his death on Facebook, The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County thanked and celebrated the star for his charitable work.
The organisation wrote online on Monday: “Army Veteran, Veterans Rights Activist, Film and Television Actor Kevin Dobson has passed away.”

The tribute continued: “He was 77 Years Old. Condolences to the entire family. Rest In Peace.”
It was followed up by the organisation with a video of the actor which was first released this year on July 4 – a massive holiday for troops and Americans.
In the video, he discussed his past life when his career centred around being in the arms as a military policeman.
His first acting debut was back in 1971, when he starred in Klute as an uncredited role.

But he didn’t give up despite the small roles and continued to act throughout his life with a 2014 role in a short film called Full Circle being his most recent credit.
However, it may not be the last time we see Kevin on our screens with a new show as a TV series titled 12 to Midnight, which is due for release in 2021, lists Kevin in the cast.
He is most well known for playing M. Patrick “Mack” MacKenzie in Knots landing from 1982 to 1993.
Kevin also played Det. Bobby Crocker through 117 episodes of crime drama Kojak between 1973 and 1978.
Most recently he played Judge Devin Owens in the iconic American soap The Bold and the Beautiful, in which he starred in over 13 episodes between 2006 and 2007.
And he also features over 15 episodes of another iconic US soap, Days of Our Lives, playing a character named Mickey Horton in 2008.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Susan, whom he married in 1968.
Together, the couple had three children; daughter Mariah, and sons Patrick and Sean.
