Lorraine fans were fuming during Wednesday’s episode as Dr Hilary Jones claimed young people needed to “take Covid-19 more seriously”.
The resident ITV doctor was chatting to Lorraine Kelly about the new rules in place, and fans of the show were angry as they said he was “blaming young people”.
One said: “#DrHilary sat there blaming young people as well? Why not sit down and actually tell the truth – government opened up everything far too early and f***ed up. Simple.”
While another wrote: “Dr. Hillary claiming younger people need to take Covid more seriously. Erm excuse me?! Have you wandered round Tesco where the OLDER people have their noses hanging out and barging past with no special awareness.. They swan around like careless a***holes.”

“Stop blaming young people”, penned a third.
A fourth added: “Dr Hilary does know that young people are high risk not just the elderly?”
“Dr Hillary on #Lorraine saying that young people going out to buy their CD’s will cause Covid to spike…”, wrote another, adding three laughing emojis to their tweet.

Dr Hilary Jones has warned that there could be a coronavirus spike in the UK within the next six to eight weeks.
Speaking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, he warned that a rise in cases was largely due to young people thinking they are “invulnerable”.
Dr Hilary said: “Unfortunately younger people feel that they are invulnerable, that they are not going to be effected by Covid-19, and some even deny that the virus exists.

“Now in France, and exponential rise in the last few weeks. That is now being mirrored by hospitalisations and deaths.
“We are six to eight weeks behind France and Spain.
“Spain has eight times the number of cases per 100,000 population, and France four times our rate, but we’re going to follow suit.
“We will be there in six to eight weeks, unless people abide by the guidelines.”
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
