This Morning fans left baffled by 'what not to put in your vagina' segment

This Morning viewers were in utter shock during a segment about “what not to put in your vagina”.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were speaking to Dr Philippa Kaye all about the do’s and don’ts of vaginas.

She revealed that there are many products that claim to help the vagina stay clean, but in actual fact these can be incredibly harmful.

There are products that claim to “clear out your womb” using steam, which is definitely a no.

They also talked about a brush which claims to clean out the “debris” from your vagina, which is also completely unnecessary.

However, viewers were the most shocked when “putting food inside your vagina” was discussed.

Dr Philippa stated: “If you put food inside your vagina it is gong to rot.”

Fans flooded Twitter with comments after the jaw-dropping discussion.

One said: “Garlic on a tampon?! I’m done.”

While another wrote: “How can you put food inside your vagina?”

A third added: “WHAT?! Some folk steam clean their womb?!?”

“There are people shoving brushes up their hoo ha to clean it. What the hell”, penned a fourth.

Phil asked: “What are the things you should do?”

Dr Philippa replied: “You do not need any kind of soap… any kind of product which claims to change the PH… you don’t need it.”

“Just wash the outside with a little bit of water.”

Dr Philippa also shared a post on her Instagram, stating: “Which of these home remedies have you heard? Garlic or yoghurt in your vagina for thrush? Parsley to change odour? Or have you been pressured to have a beauty treatment on your vulva? Or told you need to ‘clean out your vagina’ after a period? We discussed all these and more on This morning today!

“The bottom line is this…leave it alone! The vagina is a self cleaning tube, you do not need to douche, use special cleaning products, or correct its pH, it is supposed to be slightly acidic! Just wash with water and leave be otherwise you risk disrupting the balance of bacteria in the vaginal microbiome which can lead to irritation, thrush and bacterial vaginosis.”

Many viewers loved the vagina themed discussion on the ITV show, rushing to Twitter to comment on the chat.

One said: “BIG well done shout out to @thismorning for great piece on ‘Things you shouldn’t do to your vagina’ There is SO much rubbish out there about vagina “cleaning” products, processes. They don’t need it, they naturally look after themselves!”

While another wrote: “Quite like the vagina expert, very well spoken, knowledgeable and no nonsense.”

“Thoroughly enjoying @thismorning with the no bulls*** conversation about vaginas. Brilliant! No shame, no nonsense. Great job”, wrote another fan.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
