Telly fans have been left sickened after watching horrific scenes in new documentary The Vow, where women have NXIVM sex cult leader’s initials burned into their skin.
Disgusted viewers watched in horror as the new HBO documentary series detailed the story of the NXIVM group.
The cult made headlines last year when some of its famous members faced charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and forced labour.
NXIVM was accused of keeping sex slaves and branding its members with leader Keith Raniere’s initials.
Sunday’s episode showed some of these gory practices to viewers, who were left horrified but what they saw.

One outrage viewer took to Twitter to voice her dismay. She wrote: “BRANDED?? Naw this man needs hellfire, now. What kind of sick s**t?? #TheVowHBO.”
Another echoed: “Wowwww they really branded these women. I mean you hear it but when you see it.”
Others, however, partook in victim blaming, convinced they would never let themselves get into that situation. A viewer voiced: “As soon as I had been told they wanted to brand me, I would have been OUT… I will never let a man brand me like his cattle.”

Keith Raniere ran what he called a self-help group for two decades until his arrest in 2018.
NXIVM was actually a pyramid scheme and cult that recruited women and subjected them to hideous abuse such as being branded on their genitals, being starved and forced to have sex with Raniere.

He was known as ‘DOS’ in the cult, which victims say stands for “dominus obsequious sororium” – Latin for “master over the slave women”.
Raniere is currently in prison awaiting sentencing in October after being charged with a number of serious crimes including sex trafficking.
The Vow airs on HBO in the US and will be available to watch on Sky Documentaries in the UK in November.
