Good Morning Britain's Ranvir Singh splits from husband weeks before Strictly

Good Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh has confirmed that she has split up with her husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal, who she married in 2012.

The 43-year-old spoke of life as a single mother to their eight-year-old son Tushaan, and a rep for the star confirmed that the pair split up “many years ago”.

Ranvir, who will make her debut on Strictly Come Dancing in a matter of weeks, confirmed the news with Woman and Home magazine.

The ITV favourite said: “It’s hard work being a working single parent.

“I struggle with an enormous amount of guilt with my son and not being there when he goes to school. We’re very attached to one another because it’s just me and him.”

Ranvir did not go into detail about the split, saying: “I keep my private life private, mainly to protect Tushaan.

“It’s important that he learns things about my decisions from me and not from mums talking at the school gates. I think it comes down to how you feel about your own story.”

However she did explain that she hopes she’ll feel “comfortable” enough to talk about the break-up in the future.

Ranvir said: “Talking about more personal things because my experiences could help other people – but I’m not ready.”

She added: “I’m not ruling it out, but for me there would have to be a wider purpose for discussing it.”

Ranvir, who has been enjoying Loose Women appearances recently as well as GMB, recently confessed she was not worried about the so-called Strictly Curse.

When asked if she was concerned about it affecting her relationship, she simply replied: “No.”

She also divulged some information about a past relationship, admitting that she had looked through an ex’s phone.

Her GMB co-host Ben Shephard suggested that was why the relationship didn’t work out in the end.

Ranvir replied: “I can’t answer that question but I have always thought that if you ever feel you need to do that then the relationship is over because you obviously don’t trust that person.”

The television presenter married Ranjeet in 2012.

She will soon take to the BBC stage for Strictly, alongside the likes of EastEnders babe Maisie Smith, boxer Nicola Adams, The Wanted hunk Max George, Nadine Coyle’s ex Jason Bell and Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing, who was forced to pull out of last year’s series after an injury.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
