Chadwick Boseman was buried near his South Carolina hometown, six days after he died following a tragic colon cancer battle.
The Marvel actor, best known for playing Marvel superhero Black Panther, died surrounded by his wife and family on August 28 at his home near Griffith Park in Los Angeles after a secret four-year battle with cancer.
The 43-year-old was laid to rest at Welfare Baptist Church Cemetery in Belton, South Carolina on September 3, according to a death certificated obtained by The Associated Press.
His final resting place is around 11 miles from his hometown of Anderson, where he was born and raised.
Chadwick’s grief-stricken community held a large public memorial in honour of his extraordinary life one day after he was buried.

The Marvel star’s immediate cause of death was listed as multiple organ failure, with the underlying cause of colon cancer.
On announcing his death, Chadwick’s family revealed he had been diagnosed with the illness four years ago, but kept his battle a secret from the world.
According to his death certificate, Boseman had surgery to remove the cancer in 2016 following his diagnosis, and in March of this year to remove cancer that had metastasised.
During his battle, Chadwick continued to work while undergoing chemotherapy treatment as well as multiple surgeries.
The news of the star’s death sent shock waves around the world as thousands mourned the loss of the first black superhero in mainstream American comic film.
Boseman brought life to his Wakandan character King T’Challa, who Marvel fans first meet in Captain America: Civil War, when he tells Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff, “In my culture, death is not the end.”
