Phillip Schofield to 'convert garage at £2.6m family home into bachelor pad'

Phillip Schofield is said to be transforming the garage at his family home into a “new bachelor pad” after coming out as gay in February.

Phillip, 58, is currently still living at the family home in Oxfordshire with his wife of over 27 years, Stephanie Lowe.

It seems that the TV presenter has no plans to leave their home, and is instead setting himself up in a two-bedroom home within the grounds.

The This Morning host is said to be planning to knock down one of the garages and build himself a new place with floor-to-ceiling windows, a sitting room and a posh new kitchen.

It was also reported that Phillip will have a guest bedroom and an ensuite bathroom.

“Phillip and Steph are getting on really well and are in no rush to make any big decisions,” a source told The Sun.

“This annex can be used by any member of the family at any time — and is a great investment long-term, adding value to the property.”

The news comes after Phillip denied claims that he had moved out of the family home and into his own flat in London.

Phillip and Steph share two daughters, Molly, 27, and Ruby, 24, and still remain legally married.

The ITV star came out as a gay in an interview with his co-host and good friend Holly Willoughby on February 7.

“You never know what’s going on in someone’s seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their state of wellbeing – and so you won’t know what has been consuming me for the last few years,” he said.

“With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact and I am gay.

“This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home. I have been married to Steph for nearly 27 years, and we have two beautiful grown-up daughters, Molly and Ruby.

“My family have held me so close: they have tried to cheer me up, to smother me with kindness and love, despite their own confusion.

“Yet I can’t sleep and there have been sone very dark moments. My inner conflict contrasts with an outside world that has changed so very much for the better,” Phillip added.
