Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway has called for people to stick to the new coronavirus rules.
Kate’s husband Derek, 53, rushed to hospital with coronavirus back in March. Despite now being free from the virus, he remains fighting for his life in hospital.
On this morning’s GMB, Kate discussed Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s warning that members of the public need to stick to coronavirus rules in order for Christmas to be “saved”.
Kate backed the PM’s call, saying “that’s the idea” as she urged viewers to stick to the rules.
When discussing Boris’ latest update on the situation, Dr Hilary explained to viewers: “We need to keep this under control.

“Because if things get out of control we will definitely be requiring another national lockdown.
“It did get things under control before, but that’s the last resort,” he noted.
Kate added: “Yep, Boris Johnson has said on the front page of The Sun, ‘Stick to the rules so we can save Christmas.
“That’s the general idea behind it.”
The 53-year-old returned to the ITV show back in July, four months after her husband was taken to hospital after contracting the coronavirus.

Kate and Derek recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary, but, Kate was unable to spend time with him on their milestone.
Speaking on their anniversary, she said: “I won’t be able to see him today. I kind of hoped he would but it hasn’t worked out that way for the visits. But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway.”
Yesterday the PM revealed ‘tough’ plans to ‘protect’ Christmas amid looming fears of a second coronavirus spike.
He said we must be “tough now” so we can enjoy the festive period.
This may mean shutting pubs at 10pm if people do not obey the new ‘rule of six’.

Mr Johnson’s words came as stricter new measures are expected to be announced for the North East of England, where cases are on the rise.
The PM said people have to be “both confident and cautious” and that it is “crucial” the country does not re-enter “some great lockdown again that stops business from functioning”.
He told the Sun: “Christmas we want to protect, and we want everyone to have a fantastic Christmas.
“But the only way to make sure the country is able to enjoy Christmas is to be tough now.
“So if we can grip it now, stop the surge, arrest the spike, stop the second hump of the dromedary, flatten the second hump.”
And when asked about pub and restaurant curfews, he warned: “I remember when the pubs used to close at 11 anyway in the old days.
“That sort of thing, we will be looking at it.”
