EastEnders fans predict Gray and Whitney to have affair after Chantelle's death

EastEnders fans are convinced Gray Atkins (Toby Alexander-Smith) and Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) are about to have a twisted romance, after he murdered his wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer).

When Gray acted as Whitney’s lawyer during her stint in prison, the jailed market-stall owner made it clear she had feelings for him.

After her release, she thanked Gray for his legal assistance and the two shared a kiss, only for him to reject her.

Gray then returned to his abusive marriage with Chantelle, as his violence behind closed doors began to reach terrifying heights.

The domestic abuse storyline reached its climax last week, when he could be seen murdering her in a brutal act of violence.

After Chantelle’s death was confirmed, Whitney could be seen in the cafe, looking on fondly as Gray’s daughter drew a picture of her mum.

Chantelle’s children, Mack and Mia, have been left behind after their mother’s murder, meaning Gray might hire a new carer for the little ones.

Taking to Twitter this evening, viewers were convinced Whitney would become a nanny to the couple’s children, eventually starting a relationship with Gray.

One said: “My hearts broken them kids, Gray and Whitney better not happen please.”

And a second added: “Gray will be cracking onto Whitney before Chantelle’s cold.”

“Yeah I’d have the theory he’d hire Whitney as a nanny and it would develop from there and he would do what he did to her and she’d be the one to expose him,” a third chimed.

And a fourth wrote: “Okay but whitney becoming a foster. carer and looking after mack and mia? i kinda like it.”

Will Gray be sent behind bars for the atrocious crime, or will he get away with murder – leaving him free to pursue a romance?

Eastenders airs on Mondays at 8.05pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.35pm and Fridays at 8.30pm on BBC One.
