A Question of Sport star Matt Dawson has split from wife Carolin Hauskeller after 11 years together.
The marriage split comes after former England rugby ace Matt was axed from BBC show A Question of Sport.
Matt has urged his friends to support them “positively” as they take their relationship in a “new direction” and continue to co-parent their two sons.
He wrote on Twitter: “We know this will be a surprise to most but after 11 years together Carolin and I have decided our relationship needs a new direction, bringing our marriage to an end.
The love for our beautiful boys grows stronger day by day as does our friendship as co-parents.”
He added: “To our dear friends please continue to support us as positively as you can for the next stage of our lives.
“It’s vital that Alex and Sami understand that we will always be a united family.”
Matt, who married former model turned marketing manager Carolin in 2011, shares two sons with her – Alex, seven, and Sami, six.
The news of the marriage split comes after Matt and his co-stars Sue Barker and Phil Tuffnell were axed by the BBC from show from A Question of Sport.
The trio were shocked to learn they were being dropped from the show and were said to be “blind-sided”.
Matt said on Twitter about the axe: “I’m not sure how to respond.”
While Barker said: “I’ve absolutely loved my 24 years fronting A Question of Sport, it’s been my dream job.
“But I understand the BBC want to take the show in a new direction and I’m sad to say goodbye.”
Tufnell wrote: “13 yrs Question of Sport has been a great part of life, going to miss it hugely, thanks so much for all the lovely messages.”
