Selena Gomez made a powerful statement as she posed for a photograph wearing a Bond Girl style swimsuit this week.
The 28-year-old pop beauty showed off her toned legs in the one-piece while stretching skywards and gazing casually towards the camera.
While the baby blue coloured swimsuit showed off the Lose You To Love Me singer’s incredible figure, there was one aspect of her body that Selena wanted everyone to take note of – her scar.
In 2017, Selena underwent kidney transplant surgery as a treatment for lupus – with actress and friend Francia Raisa, 32, donating the organ to her.
During the surgery, Selena broke an artery – with doctors performing emergency surgery to construct a new artery using a vein from her leg.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Selena proudly showed off her scar – alongside an empowering message.
She wrote: “When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar.
“I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up.
“Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through…and I’m proud of that.”

Selena went on to explain that the swimsuit she was wearing was from a company called La Mariette, co-founded by her friend, Theresa Marie Mingus.
The swimsuit company prides itself on designing swimwear for all body types.
Selena wrote: “T – Congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that…all bodies are beautiful.”
Lupus is a long-term condition that causes inflammation in the body, creating going pain, skin rashes and tiredness.

The NHS explains: “Lupus is an autoimmune disease. This means the body’s natural defence system (immune system) attacks healthy parts of your body.”
They note that the condition is not contagious, but the causes of the disease are “not fully understood”.
The condition can be treated via prescription drugs, while the NHS also recommends sufferers to “stay active”, “try relation techniques to manage stress”, and to avoid smoking as part of guidelines to cope with the condition.
