Caravan park 'over the moon' as it makes I'm A Celeb announcement

The owners of a caravan park in Wales are jumping for joy after their business became associated with I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

The upcoming 20th season of the long-running ITV reality celebrity popularity contest is relocating to Wales for the 2020 series after the coronavirus pandemic made filming in Australia an impossibility.

And since it was announced in August that cameras and celebrities would be heading to Gwrych Castle near Abergele instead of Australia, excitement has been building.

Now the Golden Sands caravan park in Rhyl have announced that they have won a contract to provide accommodation to the staff and crew of the popular ITV show when filming commences.

Taking to Facebook on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Welsh holiday resort wrote: “It has been confirmed and I can now shout it from the rooftops!

“ITV’s ‘Im A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ has confirmed that Golden Sands will be their chosen holiday park for accommodation for their staff and crew.

Meanwhile, NorthWalesLive reports: “Golden Sands is just one of the local businesses offering accommodation for the production.”

I’m A Celeb is expected to return to screens within the coming weeks.

The new season has seen ITV reportedly spend millions on renovating Gwrych Castle in North Wales – with the abandoned building reported to be haunted.

While the 2020 lineup of contestants is yet to be revealed, a string of well-known names have been rumoured to be signing up.

EastEnders actor Jake Wood – who plays Max Branning on the BBC show – is one star rumoured to be involved in light of his recent announcement he is stepping down from the show.

While Selling Sunset ‘villain’ Christine Quinn is also reportedly in the running to star on the show.

Past contestants are also rumoured to return for the 2020 series, to take advantage of the fact the show is filming in the UK and to see familiar faces participate in tasks.

But Katie Price is hoping to go one step further and return to the show as a contestant for a third time – with new love, Carl Woods, in tow.
