Kate Garraway has said it has been a “tough week” in terms of her husband Derek Draper’s health battle this week.
On Good Morning Britain on Friday, former Prime Minister Gordon Brown sent his well wishes to Kate, 53, as Derek remains in hospital recovering from the effects of coronavirus.
Mum-of-two Kate thanked Gordon for the support he’s given before she gave a small update on her husband’s journey.
She turned to co-host Ben Shephard, 45, and said: “Tough week with Derek. It has been a tough week.”
Lorraine Kelly appeared on-screen to discuss what was coming up on her show later on in the morning.

The ITV host was sympathetic as she said: “I’m sorry to hear it’s been a tough week, Kate – but we love having you on the telly!”
Kate’s husband Derek contracted coronavirus back in March, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic’s first spike.
Derek’s condition deteriorated in April when he was put in a coma, which he was stuck in until July.

Not long after he started opening his eyes, Kate returned to her Good Morning Britain hosting job.
But the struggles were not over, as Kate was away from Derek on his 53rd birthday in August and their 15th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
Back on September 11, Kate explained that Derek was still unable to speak, but she would be visiting to celebrate their anniversary, albeit a day late.
Throughout the worrying time, Kate has been supported her famous friends and co-stars.
Piers Morgan tweeted: “This breaks my heart. Few happier, more positive people than Kate Garraway. Or a more loyal, decent friend and colleague.
“So many families like hers going through so much unimaginable anguish in this crisis. Sending all my love to Kate and continuing to root for Derek.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
