Casualty ‘s Code Orange episode, which was originally slated to be released in May, aired tonight on BBC One.
The programme, which is now being referred to as “The Lost Episode,” wasn’t shown at the time as show bosses deemed its airing “inappropriate” at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
But viewers weren’t disappointed with the programme when it finally aired on Saturday night.
The episode, actually named “Code Orange,” saw Casualty plunged into chaos as the hospital was forced into lockdown following a chemical attack.
This week’s instalment started by eerily showing two people mysteriously passed out in a field.
The action then switched to a street nearby where a resident spotted a mysterious-looking character dump a suspicious package in her hedge.
It transpired that the litter contained a deadly nerve agent, which prompted Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) to put the hospital’s A&E department into lockdown.
The episode, was applauded by viewers for its intense action, with some even saying it was BAFTA-worthy.
Taking to Twitter, one impressed Casualty fan said: “Someone inform Bafta and got the trophy to @BBCCasualty for Code Orange at once.”
While another continued: “Someone call up BAFTA and nominate that scene for best TV moment – so tense, so dramatic. INCREDIBLE.”
A third added: “What an amazing & brilliant episode omg the cast were outstanding. Proud to be a @BBCCasualty fan #Casualty.”
Ahead of its airing, Kate Oates, Head of Continuing Drama at the BBC said: “We are really proud of this Casualty episode and are excited to share it with audiences.
“We know Casualty fans will be delighted to watch the never-before-seen moments of the Fenisha, Will and Ethan love triangle, and to see the whole ED come together to tackle an invisible threat.”
