This Morning returned to our screens on Monday and Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby couldn’t wait to share some exciting news with viewers.
The presenting duo announced that the This Morning team will be putting on a pantomime on Friday, December 11.
Phillip explained that there will be special guests joining them for the special show and Holly revealed that she’s always wanted to take part in a pantomime.
Holly, 39, said: “It’s all I wanted to do all my life.”
Phillip added: “Who would you play?”
The blonde beauty replied: “Cinderella. I’m going to have to do it now before I am old.”
Joking about Holly’s voice, Phillip, 57, said: “You can sing all the songs in the key of K.”
A shocked Holly replied: “Oh that’s so mean. You can play the villain.”
Holly and Phillip welcomed pantomime legend Christoper Biggins on to the show via a video link to discuss the exciting announcement.
He was discussing the impact of Covid-19 on theatres across the country, as he previewed socially distanced pantos for the forthcoming Christmas season.
Biggins said: “If we do Dick Whittington, you could play Dick Whittington.
“And you could say that immortal line. Are you ready?”
Holly confirmed she was when Biggins continued, saying: “Slap your thigh, and say ’12 o’clock and still no sign of Dick…'”
Holly did as she was told, and slapped her leg before turning to the camera and telling viewers at home: “12 o’clock and still no sign of Dick!”
Phil burst into laughter as Holly herself giggled.
The mother of three then added: “I think I delivered that well.”
Phil agreed, saying: “Very well.”
The presenting duo were left in hysterics and Biggins confessed that he knew plenty more cheeky panto innuendos.
Biggins has previously shared his fears over Christmas without pantomime as the coronavirus pandemic has forced theatres to remain closed.
When appearing on Good Morning Britain in June, the stage star expressed his concerns over the festive season, and questioned how the government plan on helping the arts get back on track.
He said:”‘We hear every day there are more and more food banks opening, that children aren’t being fed, and it’s a real problem for the government to know what to do for the best.
“And of course, let the government give us as much money as they can, but there are more people in the line-up waiting to be saved by this government, and I don’t know where we draw the line.”
The 71-year-old pressed: “I certainly agree with my colleagues, theatre must go on, it’s one of the greatest things ever.”
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
