This Morning viewers were left speechless on Tuesday as a sex doll expert said people were getting the dolls modelled on their deceased partners.
Jade Stanley from Sex Doll Official appeared on the ITV daytime show with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield via a video link to discuss the increase in sex doll purchases during lockdown.
Sales of sex dolls have soared during the coronavirus crisis, with frustrated singletons forking out thousands for the high-tech “love aids”.
With lockdown stopping people from socialising or dating in a traditional sense, makers of the life like vessels from across the world have seen a surge in enquiries and orders.
Businesswomen Jade sent blonde sex doll Bella to the This Morning studio today (September 29) to join Holly and Phillip for the segment.
She said that the dolls can have up to £8,000 worth of customisation – with some people choosing to model the dolls on deceased partners, saying “who are we to judge”.
While some viewers at home enjoyed the segment, others switched off as they found the dolls “too creepy”.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Sex dolls sales quadrupled in lockdown?! Excuse me while I go vomit.”
Another added: “I’ve got the volume on mute. If this is one of the sex dolls on the screen I don’t wanna play.”
A third posted: “Modelling on a dead partner very Black Mirror.”
While a fourth said: “These sex dolls on #ThisMorning are freaking me out.”
A fifth moaned: “Sex dolls of people who have died? I’m positive my late Mum wouldn’t approve of this.”
During the interview, Jade told Holly and Phillip that some customers model their sex doll on their late partners.
She said: “When people come to us they are looking for more then a sex toy.
“They want a companion to bring a lot of happiness into their lives.
“I have customers that buy dolls to sit in a chair or lay in a bed, not just for sex.”
Jade went on to reveal that a sex doll is the most Covid-safe way to get intimate during the pandemic.
She added that she is due to open a pop-up shop due to the high demand.
Jade explained: “We’ve seen a large increase in male dolls. There is a massive market for male and transexual dolls.
“It’s a safe third person into their relationship for the first threesome.
“I am in process of setting up pop=up shop as people want to view doll before they purchase.
“I want to change perception of sex dolls. They offer so much more then just sex.”
Holly, 39, asked Jade where customers store their sex dolls when guests visit.
The blonde presenter was shocked when Jade confirmed that she sells storage boxes.
Holly asked: “What like a coffin?”
Jade replied: “Some buy a storage box or a lot of people hide their doll in the shower or bathroom.”
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
