Good Morning Britain ‘s Dr Hilary Jones has issued a stark warning on GMB after President Donald Trump and his wife Melania tested positive for coronavirus.
The US President and the First Lady confirmed they had contracted Covid-19 in the early hours of Friday morning, after the President’s aide Hope Hicks previously received a positive Covid test.
Confirming the news, Trump, 74, wrote: “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”
On today’s GMB, with Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, the conversation turned to the US leader’s test results.

Turning to the viewers, Dr Hilary issued a chilling statement about the reality of Covid, branding it an enormous “threat” to the world.
He said: “The view of many people has been ‘this is really inconvenient, this virus. It’s really inconvenient, this pandemic.’
“But it’s the biggest threat to public health for so many decades.
“That people haven’t yet taken it seriously and realise that unless we actually all play our part and take responsibility in social distancing right now – until we have a vaccine, if we ever have a vaccine, we can’t assume that.”

The ITV doctor then compared the virus to the Spanish Influenza of the early 20th century, which infected 500 million people across the globe.
Urging viewers to follow the government guidelines to help in the fight against Covid, he warned a dramatically higher death toll could be on the horizon.
He continued: “This thing will get out of control and it will kill many, many more people like the Spanish flu of 1918.
“We’re not in that position, anywhere near that yet, but it’s going to run and run unless we get a handle on it and take it seriously.”‘
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV
