Corrie star Craig Charles stuck in Barbados after coronavirus ruins holiday

Coronation Street actor and DJ Craig Charles’ peaceful family vacation has turned into a complete nightmare.

The 56-year-old English actor, who once starred as Lloyd Mullaney on the ITV soap, is currently stuck in Barbados with his family as they are unable to get back to their home in the UK amid coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

Craig’s reps confirmed he and his family undertook tests at the airport on arrival of which his whole family tested negative last Tuesday.

They were then asked to confine to their accommodation for a week in quarantine and upon a second test a week later pending another set of negative results they would be allowed to enjoy their holiday.

However their daughter’s boyfriend, recording artist Nemzzz later tested positive.

Before they knew it, on Tuesday a military ambulance arrived with paramedics in full hazmat suits at their villa.

They took him to a military facility, called Harrison Point in St Lucy on the tip of Barbados.

Due to him being 16 and a minor, Jackie, Craig’s wife had to accompany him.

She has not been allowed to leave since Tuesday and has been strictly confined to the military facility.

The family claim they have been told under “no circumstance” that Craig and his daughters can leave their accommodation either.

They have told Craig at this moment it is likely he will not be allowed to leave Barbados for another 2 weeks, possibly longer.

The star has no idea when he will officially be allowed to return home to the UK with all of his family.

Craig is best known for starring in the science fiction sitcom Red Dwarf.

He also used to play Lloyd Mullaney in Coronation Street until September 2015, after playing the character for 10 years.

Craig joined the main cast of the long-running ITV soap in 2005 playing the taxicab driver.

He introduced aspects of the character himself, making Lloyd a Northern Soul DJ and record collector, and funk music enthusiast.

The star would often choose funk and soul songs playing as backing tracks during scenes.

Corrie continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
