The Chase's Fran leaves ITV viewers gobsmacked as fans can't believe she's 49

The Chase returned to our screens on Tuesday for the latest instalment of the ITV quiz show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the show today for the second episode of the week.

The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Anne “The Governess” Hegerty was in the hot seat trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Akhil, Fran, Malcolm and Eleanor all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Governess in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

The first contestant to take on the tough quiz was Akhil, who managed to make it home safe and dry and put £4,000 into the prize fund.

Relationship expert Fran was the second player to take on The Governess today (October 6) and viewers at home were left gobsmacked as she confirmed that she is 49 years old.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Fran looks amazing for 49.”

Another added: “Fan you are never 49.”

A third person gushed: “Fran’s a bit of a milf isn’t she”

While a fourth posted: “Can imagine Fran running across a beach in slow motion.”

“Fran doesn’t look 49,” a fifth posted.

Fran answered six questions correctly in the cash builder round, winning a sound £6,000.

Ahead of her head-to-head with Anne, Fran told host Bradley: “My son said if I beat Anne in the final chase he will clean my house top to bottom.”

Fran managed to not get caught by The Chaser and made it though to the final chase.

By getting through to the next round, Fran increased the prize fund to £10,000.

Contestant number three Malcom was caught by The Governess despite earning a whopping £8,000 in his cash builder round.

Student Eleanor, 21, was the last person to take on The Chase and managed to get through to the final chase.

Instead of increasing the prize fund, Eleanor opted to take the minus £1,000 offer, which saw the grand total drop to £9,000.

The team scored 17 in the final chase but it wasn’t enough to beat The Governess, leaving the three contestants to go home empty-handed.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
