The Queen is to star in a film about her own extraordinary life, says director

Her Majesty The Queen is to take centre stage in a new cinematic film focusing on her life as Monarch and a young princess.

Director Roger Michell, who has won several awards during his impressive career has revealed that work has already begun on a biopic, documenting The Queen’s life.

The film named Elizabeth is believed to be a “celebratory collage of her extraordinary life,” collated using archive footage of her impressive 94-year life.

“It’s a truly cinematic mystery tour, up and down the decades; playful, poetic, funny, disobedient, ungovernable, affectionate, inappropriate and mischievous,” he told Mail Online.

Roger will work alongside producer Kevin Loader and editor Joanna Crickmay as well as archivist Emily Thomas as they spend the next six months going over hundreds of hours of footage.

He went on to say that he is hoping members of the public will also contribute towards the film by sending in their home footage of the Monarch if they’d had the privilege of meeting her.

Already, Michell has uncovered a rare piece of footage of the Queen and her dad, who at the time was Prince Albert, Duke of York before acceding the throne as King George.

“It’s about 93 years old and it shows her dad, bringing little baby Elizabeth out for the movie cameras.

“She’s a very young, sweet-looking bundle. It feels as old as the cinema – it’s not – but it’s fabulous,” he told the publication.

The Queen isn’t the only member of the Windsor Family set to make their film debut in 2021.

It was recently revealed that her grandson, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex had signed a monumental deal with streaming giant Netflix alongside wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

Harry and Meghan made the decision to step down as senior members of the Royal Family in January 2020, in order to lead a financially independent life.

The deal which is estimated to be worth more than £100 million will see the pair produce films, documentaries, kids television shows as well as claims that they will also open up about their philanthropy work.

While Meghan, 39, made a name for herself as an actress on the US series Suits, Harry, 36, served with the Army Air Corps in Afghanistan.
