Ben Shephard issued an awkward apology on Thursday’s Tipping Point, after a contestant gave him “grief” following her elimination.
Essex player Alison stepped up to the plate, making it into the semi-final along with fellow contestant James.
Unfortunately, she failed to land any counters, as the questions proved too tricky to answer correctly.
With one chance left, Ben asked Alison a question about football, which read: “In February 2019, Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey signed a £400,000-a-week contract to join which Italian football club?”
Clearly stumped for an answer, Alison confessed she was torn between two teams – AC Milan, and Juventus.
Hoping Ben could give her a hint, she begged him to give an indication whether either option was correct.
She said: “Give us a clue, Ben, with your face.”
He simply laughed it off, as Alison plumped for AC Milan, only to learn the correct answer was her original guess of Juventus.
Appearing to take a subtle swipe at Alison’s failure to land any counters, Ben remarked: “If you were right you would have got one counter in this round…”

With Alison fuming at Ben for failing to give her a helping hand, he jokingly pleaded: “Alison I’m sorry.”
She snapped back: “You’re not sorry.”
Ben insisted he was sorry, before adding: “I don’t think I’ve ever had so much grief from a contestant.”
Thankfully, Alison made it clear she harboured no hard feelings as she exited the ITV studios, thanking Ben for a lovely day out.

Next up, James tackled the jackpot in the hopes of winning big, only to fall short at the final hurdle after a question about rap music left him scratching his head.
Offering his sympathies, Ben remarked: “Sadly, it wasn’t to be today!”
Will tomorrow’s Tipping Point champ have better luck before the glittering ITV slot machine?
Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
