Phillip Schofield has claimed that his former This Morning co-host Fern Britton didn’t contact him when he came out as gay earlier this year.
The 58-year-old television presenter has opened up about his “heartbreak” over his feud with Fern and said that he had tried to “make it right” over the years and he “misses her deeply”.
He came out as gay in February this year and went on to take part in an emotional interview with his co-host Holly Willoughby live on This Morning.
Writing in his new autobiography Life’s What You Make It about Fern’s reaction, Phillip penned: “When I came out, she didn’t text me. She did text Steph though, which was really kind.”

Phillip claims that he and his former co-host had an argument backstage in 2009 over the content of This Morning.
He said: “I walked back into the makeup room and calmly said, ‘Please don’t do that to me again.’
“I think, for whatever reason, that was the point Fern decided she didn’t want to do This Morning any more.”
In the book, Phillip opened up about his and Fern’s close bond before they fell out over a decade ago.

The ITV star revealed that he had a cheeky nickname for her, Minity Minge, that viewers didn’t even know.
It came after Fern, 63, dropped a bottle of mint sauce on the floor and it went up her nightdress.
Daily Star Online has contacted Fern’s representative for a comment.
Phillip also describes how his weight plummeted to an all-time low in his new memoir, as he struggled to cope with his sexuality.

It followed a tortuous time over Christmas and New Year during which he “sobbed quietly in the dark” while watching the London fireworks on television.
He wrote: “It’s like being inside the blackest cloud and feeling consumed by crushing, desperate sadness.”
His weight dropped to 9 stone 12 pounds and fans tweeted him asking if he was ill.
Phillip said his overriding feeling was of huge guilt towards his wife of 27 years Stephanie Lowe.
But Phil insists he “didn’t know” he was gay when he married Steph, and if he did, he wouldn’t have married her.
Phillip is the father to two daughters Molly, 26, and Ruby, 23.
