Gogglebox fans left terrified after show airs 'scary' scenes from Netflix horror

Gogglebox viewers were left terrified after tonight’s episode aired scenes from Netflix’s new horror, The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The horror is the second of its series, the first being The Haunting of Hill House which was a hit success when it dropped on the streaming service last year.

And Bly Manor has followed in its path as even the Gogglebox stars struggled to watch it with both eyes open.

Watching on in horror, the cast all covered their eyes or looked away as the scenes unfolded before them.

The creepy show, which stars Victoria Pedretti and Rahul Kohli, is the new series set in the UK in the 1980s and is loosely based on the 1898 horror film The Turn of the Screw.

Giles and Mary were left especially frightened as they ducked behind their hands.

And viewers weren’t enjoying watching the spooky scenes too much either as they rushed to Twitter to complain.

One wrote: “Got scared watching The Haunting of Bly Manor through Gogglebox. May have to watch it in the day time.”

A second said: “Been asking Adam to watch Haunting of Bly Manor with me but we’ve just seen a clip on gogglebox and I’m crying because I’m so scared.”

“I need to go bed but I’m f*****g scared now #Gogglebox,” tweeted another.

“Was considering a #BlyManor rewatch until I just saw the #Gogglebox reactions & I’m way too scared,” tweeted a fourth.

The story tells of a young American governess hired by a man called Henry Wingrave to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care.

Arriving at the Bly estate to care for the children with the estate’s chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper, Mrs Grose, they begin to see apparitions that haunt the premises.

It won’t be a shock to many horror fans that the series is being dubbed as successful after the first instalment went down in books as the best horror series of modern times by critics.

The Haunting of Hill House featured 10 episodes on what the family endured while growing up in the haunted manor.

The plot saw the Crain family and their five children forced out of their house by paranormal activity, only for the grown-up children to return 26 years later to face their demons.
