Coronation Street fans have predicted Scott Emberton (Tom Roberts) and Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) are about to launch into a sordid affair, with the seedy gangster sweeping the barmaid off her feet.
Jenny’s relationship with Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) has become increasingly strained in recent months, following Scott’s arrival in Weatherfield.
Scott has information on Johnny’s criminal past, and has been threatening to tell Jenny the truth about his shameful misdeeds if he doesn’t follow his command.
While Scott has been trying to blackmail Johnny into becoming his getaway driver, he has been subconsciously pushing Jenny further away, fearing her reaction to the truth.
On Friday’s episode, Scott found Jenny alone in the bar, and proceeded to unabashedly flirt with her behind Johnny’s back.
Fed up after hours spent cleaning the bar, Jenny complained gently about Johnny’s behaviour, saying: “I wish he was that spontaneous with me.”
When he learned Johnny was nowhere to be found – having gone to an ale-tasting event – he let Jenny know he was delighted to have her to himself.
He said: “In the meantime, I’m not feeling too hard done by. It means I get to share the hot pot with you.”
As a smile crept across Jenny’s face, she appeared to enjoy the flirty banter, putting Johnny’s increasingly moody behaviour to the back of her mind.
Watching from home, viewers were convinced Scott would seduce Jenny in an effort to ruin Johnny’s life, as they witnessed the onscreen chemistry between the pair.
On Twitter, one wrote: “Jenny and Scott to have an affair?!”
“Imagine if Jenny cheats on Johnny for Scott,” added a second.
And a third wrote: “Yeah can definitely see an affair happening between Jenny and Scott.”
Is it curtains for Johnny and Jenny, as Scott sinks his claws into the unsuspecting barmaid?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8pm on ITV.
