Jamie Laing says he 'hid' the 'Strictly curse' from girlfriend Sophie Habboo

Jamie Laing revealed he “hid” the Strictly curse from his girlfriend and said it would ‘shame’ him if he fell victim to it.

The 31-year-old Made In Chelsea star is taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year after he was forced to quit the show in 2019 due to an injury.

When asked about the infamous “curse”, Jamie told Daily Star Online and other media outlets: “Do you know what, we didn’t speak too much about the Strictly curse.”

He said as he chuckled: “I hid it from her.”

Jamie continued: “No, listen I’m very lucky to be with my girlfriend. She’s a lot better than I am in every single way.”

The reality star added that if anything were to happen, it would be a complete “shame” on him.

He said: “I don’t worry about the Strictly curse and if any Strictly curse ever did happen it would be a complete shame on me, so I don’t think about that happening.”

Jamie gushed over his girlfriend as he said: “She’s better than me at everything, honestly just cooking, dancing, sport, talking everything!”

“Yeah she’s pretty special.”

Viewers will have to wait until the show launch on Saturday to find out which of Strictly’s glamorous professional dancers Jamie has been partnered with.

None of the dancing pairs have been revealed yet, but there are strong rumours Olympic boxer Nicola Adams OBE has been partnered with Katya Jones as they were seen leaving rehearsals.

Nicola is part of Strictly’s first-ever same-sex couple, and she recently opened up about how important it was to her.

She said: “I asked to be paired with a female pro and it was important to me because of diversity.

“I just wanted to do something different and I didn’t get the big deal being paired with another female.

“We go to nightclubs and girls dance with girls all the time and professional female dancers dance with girls all the time, so I don’t think it’s a big deal.”

Strictly Come Dancing launches Saturday 17th October on BBC One.
