Kieron Richardson, who plays Ste Hay in the hit Chester-based soap, has opened up about returning to the iconic TV set after the lockdown – admitting things are very different than what they used to be.
Keen to get the show back on the air after a short break to the lockdown halting filming, Hollyoaks bosses have implemented a string of strict rules for staff and cast members to follow.
As well as the standard two-metre rule, cast must be temperature-checked upon arrival and even wear facemasks during rehearsals.
Chatting to Mirror Online via their Facebook live stream, Kieran said: “We have to stay well away well away from each other.
“As soon as you drive in there is an ambulance and you have the checks.
“They then your temperature at the gate.”

Kieron added: “Face masks have to be worn at all times unless you are on camera.
“Even in rehearsals they have to be worn so the director actually doesn’t see your face until the actual take.”
Trying not to give away any of the upcoming plot lines, the dad-of-two continued: “I’ve done a scene in hospital where I had to speak to the pillow and not the actor as the person couldn’t be there.
“There is also a futures scene were I have to hug someone and my husband can be the body double.

“They have asked him to come in.”
Kieron married Carl Hyland in a countryside wedding in 2015.
In a nod to his Hollyoaks roots, bridesmaids included cast mates Jorgie Porter, Jennifer Metcalfe, Gemma Merna, Bronagh Waugh, Jazmine Franks and Stephanie Davis.
Speaking to Daily Star Sunday at the time, Kieron said: “We want to do what everyone has been doing all these years – because finally we’re allowed to say those vows.
“But that really is the only traditional thing we are doing. I’ve had this image in my head of how I want it to be.”
Kieron recently revealed he and Carl and hoping to welcome a third child into their life.
The couple had twins via a surrogate in 2017.
Kieron said: “We’re going again for baby three very soon, because it is hard, so we’d like to get it out the way, and our surrogate wants to get her life back.
“[Fatherhood] is amazing, it’s so hard, I’m looking forward to have a night off tonight and them being with nanna and grandad so I can have a lie in and sleep, which is exciting.”
