Phillip Schofield has recalled the moment he told his mother he was gay.
The 58-year-old television presenter came out on Instagram in February this year.
Just minutes after he published the social media statement, Phillip opened up about his sexuality in an emotional interview with his close friend and co-star Holly Willoughby on This Morning.
Before he announced to the world that he was gay, Phillip told his family and he travelled to his hometown in Cornwall to tell his mother Pat.
Recalling the moment on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Friday morning, the This Morning presenter said that he was having issues with his eyesight and his mum was concerned.

When Phillip nervously sat Pat down to have the important talk, the 83 year old hilariously thought he was going to speak about his eyes.
The ITV star said: “She knew I was coming and she knew something was up.
“I have floaters in my eyes, which drive me crazy.
“I don’t talk about them very much. It’s like a filthy bathroom window drifting in front of my vision.”
He continued: “So we had our fish and chips and I said, ‘Mum, I have something to tell you,’ and she said, ‘Okay, alright,’ and I said, ‘I’m gay.’
“And she went, ‘Oh thank god, I thought you were going blind.'”
Phil has praised his family for being supportive about him coming out.
Speaking to the Mirror back in February when Phillip came out, Pat told how proud she is of her “brave” and “inspiring” son.

Pat, 83, said: “For him to be so brave in front of so many people was inspiring, because I know how hard it was for him to do.
“I love Steph and the girls more than anything in the world and I will always be there for them.
“When Phillip drove to Cornwall to tell me, the first thing I said was, ‘I don’t care’.
“Yes it was a shock, but nothing as a family that we can’t support and applaud.”
His new autobiography Life’s What You Make It delved into what really unfolded when the telly favourite come out as gay to his family first.
Phillip recalled telling his grown-up daughters Molly, 27, and 24-year-old Ruby almost made him sick.
In his darkest hours, his loyal wife of 27 years Stephanie Lowe reassured him how much all the girls loved him.
He wrote: “When things got really dark, (Steph) reminded me how much they all loved me and that there was nothing that the four of us couldn’t cope with.”
