Bake Off fans swoon over old Paul Hollywood snap and compare him to Tom Cruise

Paul Hollywood left Great British Bake Off fans swooning after he shared a throwback snap of him in the 80s.

The hunky chef, 54, shared a pic of himself on Instagram to mark Bake Off’s eighties-inspired cooking week – and some fans claim he looks a dead ringer for Tom Cruise in it.

In the snap, smooth-talking Paul sizzled as he sported dark locks and flashed a heart-stopping grin at the camera.

Many of his fans rushed to the comment section to tell how he is the spitting image of Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise.

One fan gushed: “Bit of a Tom Cruise look going on…. The 80s is my favourite decade, love everything about it.”

Another fan said: “Handsome back then and sexy now”.

“Very Tom Cruise ‘Cocktail’,” a third person said.

A fifth person declared: “Apart from the eyes but you also look like a very young Tom Cruise @paul.hollywood.”

Paul captioned his snap: “Here’s one from the late 80’s, its also the theme for the Bake Off tonight, “THE 80s”…! 8pm on @channel4.”

“Quiche, vol au vents and custard slices at the ready X.”

Earlier this month, Bake Off fans were convinced Paul was fuming after Noel and Matt mocked him on the show.

The comedy duo made a quip about the professional baker wearing a nappy during tonight’s (October 13) episode, as the tent filled with laughter.

However, Paul’s face remained stony, glaring at Matt and Noel as they claimed he had earned a “gold star” last week after he potty trained himself, having finally grown out of his “nappy”.

Taking to Twitter, certain viewers were convinced the silver fox was struggling to take the jokes on the chin, as they weighed in on the conversation.

One said: “Paul Hollywood hates being the butt of the joke don’t he. Absolutely no sense of humour if it’s about him.”

“Cannot work out if Paul is taking this all in good humour, or plotting his revenge,” added a second.

While a third wrote: “Making fun of Paul Hollywood.. living for that #GBBO.”

For chocolate week in the tent, the bakers were instructed to whip up a white choc dessert for Paul and Prue Leith to review.

Ahead of the challenge, Matt remarked: “Your cake should be made with a particular celebration in mind. For instance, it could be the first time you went to the toilet by yourself.”

Joining in on the joke, Noel added: “For Paul, that was last Thursday. Well done Paul, we’re all very proud.”

Little Britain star Matt then took the joke to the next level, strolling over to Paul and plonking a giant gold star on the lapel of his red shirt.

He remarked: “Well done Paul, there’s your gold star. No more nappy.”

Paul’s face said it all, as the remaining bakers in the tent struggled to hold back their laughter, clamping hands over their mouths as they clocked his grumpy expression.

Noel then rounded things off, gesturing to the gold star and finishing: “You get three of those you get a book token, little man.”
