Some of Prince Charles ‘ close pals have accused Netflix drama The Crown of “trolling the Royal family on a Hollywood budget” by presenting fiction as fact.
Netflix launched the fourth series of the show on Friday and it looks at Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana and his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
It also examines Diana’s eating disorders and showed her gorging on food before vomiting into a toilet.
Events described in the series have reportedly enraged some of the Prince’s closest pals who say the Royals are being exploited and the series is portraying events that didn’t happen.
Speaking to MailOnline, a source said: “This is drama and entertainment for commercial ends being made with no regard to the actual people involved who are having their lives hijacked and exploited.

“In this case, it’s dragging up things that happened during very difficult times 25 or 30 years ago without a thought for anyone’s feelings. That isn’t right or fair, particularly when so many of the things being depicted don’t represent the truth.”
The fourth series covers Charles’ affair with Camilla when she was still married and insiders are reportedly particularly enraged about that storyline.
A source at the Palace said: “There is no sense of telling carefully nuanced stories – it’s all very two-dimensional. This is trolling with a Hollywood budget. The public shouldn’t be fooled into thinking this is an accurate portrayal of what really happened.”

Prince William is also irritated that his parents’ split is brought up on the show, an insider has claimed.
They alleged Prince William is “none too pleased” with the depiction of his parents.
It is claimed the Duke of Cambridge feels both his parents are being “exploited” and “presented in a false, simplistic way to make money”.

Prince Charles’ pals claim there are “gross inaccuracies in the new series” including a depiction of Charles verbally abusing Diana.
They also alleged the series falsely depicts Diana confronting the Queen and the Prince of Wales about his affair at their wedding rehearsal at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Daily Star Online has contacted Netflix, Kensington Palace and Clarence House for comment.
