I’m A Celeb star Mo Farah may be happy to go on the biggest TV show in the country but it’s taken him a few years to adjust to his new found fame.
The British Olympian says he was so uneasy about being thrust into the limelight after his success at the 2012 London Olympics he locked himself in his home.
Writing in his autobiography Twin Ambitions, Mo admitted he asked his wife to do his clothes shopping and was too nervous to go to a restaurant.
After explaining how he was photographed and mobbed by fans everywhere he went, Mo wrote: “In the end it was simpler for us to stay in doors all day with the curtains drawn.

“This was during a really hot time of year but we couldn’t even open our doors or windows for fear that someone would catch a glimpse of us or the twins and take a picture.”
Mo continued: “We worked around the attention the best we could.
“There’s a curry house that I love eating at and i’d been going there for years.

“They don’t usually do deliveries but they knew me so I’d ring up and ask them if they would mind delivering food up to our house rather than us having to go outside.
“We were only down the road from them and the guys were happy to help.”
Going into detail about how he struggled to cope with the sudden change, Mo said: “If I went to do my own shopping I would have never made it to the shops.

“Everywhere I went this huge crowd of people instantly swarmed over me.
“Normal life went out the window. I was still Mo but no longer Mo who could walk down the street to buy a pint of milk without being mobbed.
“Obviously I am grateful for the success but it was hard to adjust to.”
Mo was one of the first 10 celebs to enter the I’m A Celeb castle in Wales this month.
He is joined by TV host Victoria Derbyshire, Vernon Kay, AJ Pritchard and Radio 1 DJ Jordan North.
