Fans of This Morning have been left fuming with host Phillip Schofield after he took a bite out of a gingerbread house on Tuesday’s show.
The episode opened with Phil and co-host Holly Willoughby taking a look at the “UK’s biggest gingerbread house”, as presented by Juliet Sear, which was big enough for Holly to go inside and have a look around.
It was explained that the sweet treat would be distributed for charity at the end of the show, but Phil couldn’t wait and took a bite directly out of it.
Viewers were fuming with Phil, 58, for ‘ruining’ the treat and wasted no time in taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

“That’s now riddled with corona, thanks Phil,” wrote one unimpressed viewer.
Another said: “If I’d been working on that pointless gingerbread house, I’d be fuming Phil took a bite out of it.”
A third tweeted: “Phil! You have now made it not Covid safe!”
Someone else wrote: “The gingerbread house is amazing, but is it really hygienic to have that distributed afterwards? And I bet Juliet’s not best pleased with Phil taking a bite out of the door frame like that!”

While a fifth added: “Phil being a d*** as usual, had to go and have a bite of it.”
And a sixth added: “Juliet: We are donating this to charity after. Phillip: Takes a chomp out of it. Aye good job Phil.”
After having a taste, Phil said: “That’s amazing,” before joking: “A little bit of wood in there as well, I think.”
He finished: “Well done to everyone involved, that’s going to charity now. Well, not the bit I’ve just eaten.”
The house was completely decorated inside with icing wallpaper and edible windows made from boiled sweets.
Holly worried she looked like she was sat on a toilet while she perched inside the house, but Phil asked her to get out of it.
Because of social distancing rules, he couldn’t go and take a bite while Holly was still inside.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
