Piers Morgan fumes at 'whining' Covid anti-vaxxers as he tells them 'shut up'

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has a clear message for anti-vaxxers and anti-lockdown supporters – “Shut up!”

After news came of the Pfizer Vaccine being approved in the UK on Wednesday morning, Piers spoke to Dr Joseph Varon, who was photographed hugging an elderly Covid patient on what was then his 252nd straight day of working in a Houston hospital.

Piers was blown away by the compassion Dr Varon had shown and urged viewers to show a little kindness to each other and respect for each other’s safety.

He said: “I don’t want to hear any more from these whiners all over social media, the ones who think it’s a hoax, the ones who are anti-vaxxing, anti-this, anti-lockdown, anti-everything – all they want is to go party.”

The 55-year-old added: “Look at this guy [Dr Varnon] – ask yourself, would you do 258 straight days on a Covid unit, at risk to your own life, the lives of your own families to save complete strangers?

“Would you show them that compassion? Would you put other people ahead of yourself in the way that this man does every single day?

“Because if you wouldn’t, shut up and stop moaning and support our health workers, because they need it right now.

“I reckon we’re in for a tough few months here and America, other countries, a tough few months until these vaccines are rolled out properly.

“We can get through it if we show the compassion this guy has.”

Later on the show, Piers told Health Secretary Matt Hancock that he would have the vaccine live on air with him if that as allowed.

Matt reminded him: “We’d have to get that approved of course, there is a prioritisation in terms of medical need and thankfully, as a healthy middle-aged man, you’re not a priority.”

Piers added: “I would only take it for one reason … to show people that it’s safe.”

Matt added: “It’s the dawn that’s on the horizon, it’s lifting all of the gloom.

“I have great faith in the NHS across all four nations. This is a UK vaccine, it shows why we’re a stronger country united together.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
