Emmerdale's Charley Webb 'annoyed' at hubby as Supermarket Sweep turns awkward

Emmerdale stars Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden were victorious on Saturday’s Supermarket Sweep, winning thousands of pounds for charity.

The soap stars, who have been married for two years, appeared on the show opposite host Rylan Clark-Neal, raising money for two separate charities.

Before they romped home to victory, there was a slightly awkward moment in the studio, as Matthew, 30, failed to pick up enough groceries in the final challenge.

After a disappointing performance from Matthew, Rylan said: “So no inflatable, no shopping list, so no manager special. Tell me you picked up a pick and mix. That gives you guys a subtotal of zero.”

He then griped: “You also dropped a few items, didn’t you?”

Matthew replied: “Yeah but I picked them back up!”

Charley could be seen looking at her husband with her hands on her hips, shaking her head as Rylan pointed out the defeat.

Over on Twitter, viewers picked up on the tension, as they suggested the soap star looked a little “annoyed” by the turn of events.

One said: “Oh @MrMattWolfenden #SupermarketSweep@MissCharleyWebb looked annoyed.”

“Charley Webb’s not happy is she?” wrote a second.

And a third penned: “Oh man that’s not matthews fault. He was picking them up when the buzzer went.”

The sweethearts fell for one another behind-the-scenes on Emmerdale, with Matthew getting on bended knee on Christmas Day in 2009.

Fast forward 11 years, and the lovebirds are proud parents to three adorable sons – Buster, 10, Bowie, four, and baby Ace Gene, one.

Charley left Emmerdale as Debbie Dingle last year, moving away from the Yorkshire Dales in emotional scenes after 17 years on the soap.

Matthew, however, is currently at the heart of an exciting storyline on the soap as David Metcalfe, as his character’s romance with Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) drives a wedge through the village.

Supermarket Sweep airs on Saturdays at 5pm on ITV.
