Laverne & Shirley star David Lander has died at the age of 73.
According to TMZ, the US actor who played Squiggy on Laverne & Shirley, died Friday at around 6:30pm.
The publication reports Lander’s wife Kathy says he died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A as a result of complications from multiple sclerosis, which he battled for 37 years.
Kathy and their daughter Natalie were reportedly at David’s bedside when he passed.
Despite his long career, his most famous role was as Squiggy, which he played during the show’s run from 1976 to 1982.
The character’s sidekick was Lenny, played by Michael McKean.

The two men met at Carnegie University in Pittsburgh, where they developed the two characters.
The actors both appeared in in Steven Spielberg’s 1941 too as well as in Kurt Russell’s, Used Cars.
Lander, who wanted to be an actor since the age of 10, studied at the High School for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Tech and NYU.
As well as this, they voiced an animated TV series, Oswald, which ran for two years beginning in 2001. They voiced penguin cousins Henry and Louie.

The actor also appeared in a number of other TV shows and movies including The Bob Newhart Show, Barney Miller, Happy Days, Viva Valdez, Married… with Children, Twin Peaks, On the Air, The Weird Al Show, Mad About You, Pacific Blue, and The Drew Carey Show.
As well as being an actor and voice actor, Lander was also a comedian, composer, musician, activist, and baseball scout.
As well as this, he worked as the Goodwill Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
