Sir Rod Stewart’s assault case is “very close” to being resolved outside court, a judge was told today.
The Maggie May musician and his son Sean, 40, were charged with simple battery following an alleged incident with a security guard.
The alleged assault reportedly took place when Sir Rod was refused entry to a private party in a children’s area at a hotel.
Sir Rod, 75 allegedly punched security guard Jesse Dixon at the luxury hotel in Palm Beach, Florida on New Year’s Eve 2019.
Mr Dixon alleges in police documents that the duo were part of a group trying to gain access to a private event held in the children’s area of the venue.
He adds that he asked the group to leave promoting Sir Rod and other members of the group to “begin to get loud and cause a scene”.
Dixon claims Sean then got “about nose to nose” with him.
He alleges that Sean then “shoved him backwards” promoting Sir Rod to “punch him in the ribs”.
Both men pleaded not guilty.
Now a US judge has been told that both Sir Rod and Sean are close to settling the matter outside court.
Guy Fronstin, representing both Sir Rod and Sean, asked Judge August Bonavita for more time, the Mirror reported.
He commented: “We are very close to resolution, we are just not quite there yet.
“So if your honour would give us one more continuance, I think we will have it resolved by then.”

Judge Bonavita agreed to another pre-trial hearing date, set for January 29 2021.
Mr Fronstin said on a video call during the last hearing in October, that he had been in touch with prosecutors and the case is likely to be resolved before it reaches trial stage.
According to the Mirror, he commented: “We have been in communication with the state. We are asking for one more rollover for pre-trial.
“All indications are this is going to resolve without a trial but there’s still some work to be done on it.”
