Mullet hairdo is back from the dead as barmy barnet set for comeback in 2021

It’s a case of back to the coiffure as horror 80s hairdo the mullet is about to rise from the dead.

The barmy barnet worn by stars like DJ Pat Sharp and footballer Chris Waddle is set to be all the rage again in 2021.

Celebrities such as Cara Delevingne and Miley Cyrus have sported the infamous style in recent weeks.

And now one of Britain’s top barbers says the “modern mullet” will be the must-have haircut in the new year.

Tony Copeland, co-founder of the British Master Barbers Alliance, said: “The modern mullet is only going to get bigger in 2021.

“We will see more men up and down the country walking around with this style.

“Long hair will be big news in 2021, and hair products to give control to longer styles will explode next year.”

The eyebrow-raising ’do first became trendy in the 1970s, after it was worn by rock legends David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Keith Richards, and Beatle Paul McCartney.

It features a shorter back and sides with a longer piece hanging down at the back.

England star Waddle helped revive it in the 80s and 90s, with Countdown star Carol Vorderman sporting a women’s version.

The look eventually became a laughing stock and died out.

But recently model Cara, 28, was spotted sporting a modern version at a string of fashion events.

And Miley, 28, has copied the look long treasured by her singer dad Billy Ray, 59, after allowing her mum Tish to cut her hair in lockdown.

As if the mullet’s return is not bad enough, barber Tony revealed another notorious hairstyle is coming back.

He said: “The man bun’s status is set to be re-established, and we will see it back in 2021 with a sleek, more groomed look, not out of place in business meetings.”
