Gorka Marquez in emotional reunion with Gemma and baby Mia after months apart

Gorka Marquez shared the moving moment he was reunited with his beloved family after living away from them for months to film Strictly Come Dancing 2020.

The 30-year-old professional dancer was apart from his girlfriend Gemma Atkinson and one-year-old daughter Mia for 78 days while filming.

Due to coronavirus government guidelines, Gorka had to live away from home while on the BBC programme.

He stayed in a bubble with his EastEnders star Strictly partner, Maisie Smith.

Gemma shared the heartfelt moment he finally returned home on Instagram, posting a sweet snap of him hugging Mia.

Gorka then posted two adorable snaps as he cuddled his daughter for the first time in over two months.

He shared the moving moment with his 624,000 followers on Instagram and captioned the post: “HOME”, with a heart emoji.

Fans rushed to leave a comment on the pictures, showering the Strictly star with messages of love.

One said: “Oh my heart! Back with your girls!”

Another gushed: “This picture melts my heart”.

“So happy for you all”, penned a third.

Gorka’s Strictly pals were thrilled to see him reunited with his family.

Dianne Buswell wrote: “Love love love.”

While Giovanni Pernice added: “The best pic ever”, with a heart-eyes emoji.

Karen Hauer typed: “Awwww so happy you’re home with your beautiful girls.”

Gorka admitted it was tough to spend so long away from his family during an episode of It Takes Two.

Host Rylan Clark Neal said: “Gorka, you’ve had two months away from your family as well, we know how much you love them.

“Surely getting to the final now with Maisie going the full way is a little bit of a consolation for it?”

Gorka explained: “Obviously there were times where I thought, ‘What am I doing? Why am I not going home?’

“It’s very hard to be away from Gemma and Mia.

“But coming into the studio every day and to have Maisie there pushing and smiling trying to be her best, it pays off.”
