Amanda Holden hints at stepping back from showbiz to spend more time with family

Amanda Holden has said she wishes to spend more time with her family as she “really appreciates” them.

The 49-year-old presenter is set to return to television screens on Christmas day for the Britain’s Got Talent: Christmas Spectacular.

During an interview about the ITV show, Amanda revealed that she wants to spend more time with her family as lockdown has made her reflect while being with her children.

When asked if family time feels more poignant amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, Amanda replied: “Yeah. I think that’s one of the best things to come out of this year, is being able to reflect and be with the children and have that kind of time where I don’t have to hurry things along, and just really appreciate my gorgeous family.

“They’re the most important people in the world. It’s not that I’ve learnt that lesson this year because I always knew it, but to just be able to have that time and put things aside that just aren’t important and give my all to them, has been joyous and it does make me think about how I am moving forward.

“It is a busy year for me next year, but I’m very mindful of the time that I want to spend with my family. I will say no a bit more, is what I’m going do.

“That’s what I’ve learned this year, and what I will take with me into 2021.”

Britain’s Got Talent is returning with a spectacular Christmas special next week.

The ITV festive special will see memorable and talent acts from the past 14 years take to the stage once again to perform.

Amanda added: “Well, it’s the perfect present, isn’t it, for everybody? After this year, I think BGT on Christmas Day for the first time ever will be a real tonic for everyone.

“This show has got everything. It makes you cry. It makes you howl with laughter. It makes you reflect.

“I just kept sitting there thinking how proud I am that I’ve been part of every single one of these acts’ moment on stage. Right from the beginning, it was like my life flashing before me.

“It’s an honour to be part of Christmas telly because it’s an iconic day to be on.”

Britain’s Got Talent: Christmas Spectacular airs on Christmas Day at 8pm on ITV.
