Jeremy Clarkson says bullies 'forcing him to lick toilets sharpened him up'

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he is grateful for the bullying he experienced at boarding school.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? host Jeremy, 60, told how “horrible” bullies made him “lick the lavatories clean”.

He recalled in another sickening incident another student “defecated in his tuck box”.

Despite the horrendous nature of the bullying the TV presenter insists he’s “grateful” for the experience and that it “sharpened him up”.

He told on the Andy Jaye podcast: “The first two years I got bullied, and I have to be careful how I phrase this, I don’t necessarily think in my case the bullying I got for the first few years was a bad thing.

“I think it sharpened me up and brought me to my senses. I appreciate that for many, many, many people bullying is horrific but it just wasn’t for me particularly.”

“I mean it was horrible to suffer from it but I look back and I am grateful for what it made me become, if that makes sense.”

Jeremy explained that he was eventually expelled, but has no regrets about it – because it led to him becoming one of the country’s most successful TV personalities.

He revealed as he was walking away from the school, a man at the side of the road asked where he was going.

The star told him he’d been expelled and the man replied “Ha, well you’ll have to be a journalist then.”

Jeremy said: “So that was lucky I bumped into him because I hadn’t even considered journalism.”

Jeremy will appear on Boxing Day episode of Millionaire – starring Piers Morgan who he once had a brawl with 16 years ago.

The two loudmouth TV personalities once had a fued before resolving it by getting drunk together.

Piers mocking the irony that the show will air on Boxing Day on Good Morning Britain.

He said: “I’m now in the unnerving position to confirm I have taken part in Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

“For a Boxing Day special appropriately, given the host is somebody who once punched me three times in the head.”

Jeremy put his recent two stone weight gain down to lockdown and wine – after slimming down due to a healthy regime in 2019.

He added: “It’s all back on – and a little bit more.”
